3:1 to Herman!

Aren't tortoises strong? He's only small
But he pushed aside this branch to escape his pen again. Found him at the back of the flower bed under the Holly bush! He's fine but I'm scratched to pieces! I would leave him out but the foxes tend to mug him and when he escaped last year he got nibbled by something!

Polymer Clay Beads

Spent an enjoyable morning teaching polymer clay bead making one to one. Fascinating the wonderful effects you can get just using simple millefiori cane techniques. It was the third time I had taught this class. I spent a happy afternoon over the Christmas holidays playing with fimo and a pasta
Machine I found in a Charity shop. Looking forward to some more play time when things calm down a bit so I can teach stage 2 at the end of the summer term!

Herman (aka Houdini) Tortoise

Ok. It's 2:1 to Herman. Today is the first time this week he didn't escape! Monday we found him right down the end of our very long garden (200' +), having escaped from his quite large enclosure in the bottom 1/3 of the garden. Yesterday, following enhanced fortifications we found him hiding half way down in a pile of leaves. Today I was determined not to lose him and my further enhanced fortifications seem to have worked. Thank goodness for his tracker device. If the batteries fail or he manages to remove it again we may never find him!

David Hockney Exhibition

I went to see this on Sunday with my family and it is wonderful. Even my 15 year old son enjoyed it! The colours and sheer scale just blew my mind. If you have even the smallest
Opportunity, just go and see it. You won't be sorry. You don't have long because it finishes on the 9th April.

Wire and Bead Workshop

Had a great day yesterday teaching a workshop at my local Needlecraft shop, Threadbear. It's a great place with lovely people. I was teaching techniques using wire and beads to construct jewellery based on sea shells. Techniques included coiling, stitching and knitting. I've included a picture showing some of the great work done. Hope to go back next term with another class.

One to One jewellery Workshop

I have just had another really enjoyable
Day teaching one to one in my newly tidied studio. Sheetle has been doing
a mixture of enamelling, wire work and also making a silver bezel for one of the enamels. She even found time to make a lovely pair of hammered silver heart shape earrings with some the off cuts. She's coming back in a few weeks do make some polymer clay beads with me.
